I desperately want to find calm this week. I want to get up, go to the gym, and spend a challenging, but comparatively stress free day, come home, have dinner, watch a nice DVD, and go to bed. Better yet, I would like this to go on for several consecutive days. Capping it off with a nice weekend end-of-summer art and wine festival with friends would be very nice.
Instead, this week has been chaos. It's Thursday, right? I'm losing track. I've been dealing with Mrs. Geek's car troubles -- it's having gas mileage problems, plus the wheel alignment is WAY out of whack. So that's meant dropping off her car at the garage, on Tuesday... and then carpooling Wednesday, and missing some work tomorrow to get a tire replaced tomorrow. Plus, everything at work this week has been unadulterated stress... people want data and they want it NOW. There are problems with how the data is being collected... and guess who gets to play Mr. Fix-it? To top it all off, Mrs. Geek and I overdrew our checking account this week (a poor timing of wedding travel credit card payoffs before paychecks arrived)... which was covered by our savings, but only after the bank extracted a hefty fee.
And oh yes... remember when I said that my opthamologist visit was covered? It may not be. I'm awaiting a second round of proclamations on the subject from my Company O. Benefits contact.
At least there was a little good news this week. Company O. saw fit to give a bonus. Of course, it would help if the government did not see fit to tax away or withhold just over 53 percent of it.
Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my closeups... or something... like maybe a shot of bourbon.
