Mrs. Geek and I were out and about today, in part to check out a local tech museum and in part to do a little sofa shopping (any advice to pass along, teranika?).
Along the way, we decided to stop at one of the larger shopping malls nearby. We passed through Nordstrom to get in from and out to the parking structure.
Whoever lays out Nordstrom stores thinks of everything. Next to the Steinway piano at the bottom of the escalator, there was a small sitting area directly opposite the ladies cosmetics and jewelry counters. I puzzled over the use for such an area when I initially saw it, but immediately recognized its purpose. Upon our return from other parts of the mall, Mrs. Geek wanted to browse at the jewelry counter for a few minutes. I immediately sat down in one of the empty chairs across the way, along with all the other husbands and fathers waiting for their wives and/or daughters.
When one woman came by to collect her husband, she said "What is this, husband day care?" "Yes, I think it is." I replied.
