it's christmas... what?!?

I had to head over to a local shopping mall yesterday. Mrs. Geek had pre-ordered a copy of Disney's Sleeping Beauty a while back, and she wanted me to pick it up. My mission was accomplished during my lunch hour to help avoid traffic.

With a few extra minutes to kill, I decided to wander around the mall a bit. That's when I saw it -- Macy's Christmas Store. The last six weeks have gone by so fast that it barely seems like it's much past Labor Day. True, the nights are taking on a crisp, cool Fall quality, but the days still briefly summon memories of summer. Halloween is still weeks away. How can it be time for the Christmas madness already???

I browsed in there among the Celtic Christmas Carols, the artificial trees, and the colored lights, I admit it. Being the blown glass ornament junky that I am, I was pleased at first to see so many festive and decorative ornaments... and then was sad to see that so many of them were made in China. There were a distinct minority from the "ornament motherland" of Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Of course, the ones from China tended to be about $12 and the one from Europe about $35. The European ones were better though...

I did avail myself of one purchase, a box of Christopher Radko Shiny Brite Replicas. My parents have some of the originals. I need more of these.
