Mrs. Geek and I appear to be in the dog house, with several different people. My sister is supposedly disappointed with me because we are late in getting a birthday gift to her. My mother (who I believe to be channeling the spirit of my dead Grandmother) is annoyed with me because my sister is disappointed. Some of Mrs. Geek's relations think that both of us are upset with them because we impolitely declined to attend (and neglected to RSVP for) a birthday party at a $200 per night hotel a few hours away over the summer. Even local law enforcement seems to be against us at the moment; Mrs. Geek got a ticket for driving with an expired registration the other day.
Yesterday, we finally began to take care of some of these matters. We finally sent out my sister's birthday gift -- we didn't actually get it until 3 weeks ago, and things have been topsy-turvy around here. I also called her to apologize for my lack of proper brotherly regard. We also sent out a belated gift for the 70 year old (after consulting with his daughter a couple weeks ago) with a note of apology. Mrs. Geek is going to call the DMV. The reason we never got a new registration sticker is because they never got some inspection paperwork; we were late in getting some of that done, but thought we took care of all that back in June... and have printouts to prove it.
A lot of stuff seems to be falling through the cracks lately. *sigh* I'm not sure why. I suppose I should find out why... before something truly serious happens.
